Presents a novel ventilation mode based on square column attached air curtain, which can be applied to HVAC system in large space buildings. Studies the symmetry characteristics of air distribution among different square columns using CFD numerical simulation. Analyses the influences of air supply velocity, temperature and heat flux density on the indoor velocity and temperature fields. Evaluates the human thermal comfort in the occupied zone. The results show that this kind of air supply mode can form air lake phenomenon on the aspect of velocity and temperature distributions, and thus achieve human thermal comfort. Meanwhile, this mode can meet higher cooling load than that of traditional displacement ventilation, and the upper located air diffuser is also easily mounted. In general, square column attached air curtain ventilation can create better air quality in occupied zone, and has higher ventilation efficiency.
